Oatfield is an ideal base from which to explore and experience one of England's best kept secrets, The Royal Forest of Dean. With stunning walks through 25,000 acres of unspoilt forest, cycle paths recently voted the best in Britain, and attractions such as two steam railways, Clearwell caves, craft centres, a sculpture trail, the International Centre for Birds of Prey, Tolkien's Puzzle Wood and the beautiful lower Wye valley there is plenty to do for all ages. Oatfield Farm is situated close to Etloe, one mile from the village of Blakeney on the A48, 15 miles from Gloucester, 12 miles from Monmouth and 13 miles from Chepstow. There is an 'open-all-hours' village shop, two pubs and a post office in Blakeney, and the nearest town is Lydney, 3 miles away, with a range of shops including Tesco and a Coop.

There is a railway station at Lydney on the Gloucester to Newport local service. A regular bus service runs from Chepstow to Gloucester and stops at Blakeney.
There are a number of local taxi companies, we generally use Rob at Premier Cars (07766 682255), Crystal (01594 824846) or A1 taxi (01594 844055) who all provide excellent service.
Bristol International is less than an hour away, Heathrow about two and a half hours depending on traffic flow on the M4. Cardiff and Birmingham Airports are just over an hour's travel.
Oatfield is an ideal touring centre with the Cotswolds, Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Tintern and the Wye Valley, Monmouth, Hereford, Worcester, Ross-on-Wye, the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, the Malverns, some lovely unspoilt South Wales sandy beaches, four Cathedrals and lots and lots of castles, all within an hour's drive.
